In his First Letter to the Corinthians Paul writes that, unlike men, women should veil themselves when they pray or prophesy. If they don’t, he says, “should cut off [their] hair.” He then continues by saying that men do not have to veil themselves because they are the image and reflection of God, whereas women was made out of man. Paul thinks you should veil yourself to prevent yourself from attracting the wrong kind of supernatural attention.

After reading these articles in an effort to determine whether Paul is a misgynist or not, I believe he is not. Paul, born Roman Catholic and converted Jew-Christian was strict to his beliefs of modesty and respect. Where it can be seen that he was singling out women in regards to covering their hair, I believe he is trying to protect women from the “wrong supernatural attention.” Paul’s teachings of modesty amongst men is similar to that of women almost telling us that he is not a misogynist but truly, a christian and a leader.
